The Thief of Bagdad
One of the greatest movies ever made about a djinni is "The Thief of Bagdad." This movie has fantastic magical adventures that include a djinni in a bottle, a magic carpet, and a beautiful princess. Although it was made in 1940, this movie will never go out of style. "The Thief of Bagdad" won 3 Oscars: Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Special Effects.

I
Dream of Jeannie
"I Dream
of Jeannie" debuted on September 18, 1965 on NBC.
Producer Sidney Sheldon was the creative force behind the "Jeannie" in the bottle. In 1964 Barbara Eden had starred in "The
Brass Bottle" with Tony Randall and Burl Ives. Barbara played
the part of the girlfriend of the guy who finds a genie (Ives portrayed
the genie). Sidney wanted a sexy female genie for his new series though
and Barbara was always in the back of his mind for the title role. However,
he searched for a brunette as he did not want comparisons to the beautiful
blonde witch, "Samantha." Sidney just couldn't find anyone
that could compare with Barbara though. Of course with Eden's mischievous
beauty as well as the chemistry between Barbara and Larry Hagman, it
was a complete success and lasted five seasons.
The Bottle
Have you ever wished for a real I Dream of Jeannie bottle? Jeannie's bottle was actually a colorfully painted 1964 special Christmas edition Jim Beam whiskey decanter. Legend has it that Sidney Sheldon received this special bottle as a Christmas gift and decided it would make the perfect Jeannie bottle. The first season's bottle was designed with a more antique look to it with gold vines/leaves painted on the bottle. The 2nd to 5th season bottle was colorfully painted with a somewhat mulberry/purple base with white or pale blue arches. There are also different bottle designs and colors for Jeannie's evil sister, the Blue Djinn, and reunion movies. Those who own Jeannie bottles are charmed people in their own right. Jeannie-bottle owners are artistic, sensitive, fun, bright, and well-liked by their peers. Jeannie-bottle artists are a magical and amazing group who enjoy making people happy
Aladdin and the Magic Lamp
Although the Brothers Grimm wrote a story called "Aladdin and his Wonderful Lamp", this tale has been around for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. The story is in a collection called "The Book of One Thousand and One Nights." The original manuscript has never been found but evidence suggests the originating date to be somewhere between 800-900 A.D. Aladdin is an impoverished youth who meets a magician. The magician asks Aladdin to go into a magic cave to bring out an oil lamp. Aladdin retrieves the lamp but does not give it to the magician as he wants to make sure he can safely leave the cave. The magician angrily seals Aladdin inside the cave with the lamp. However, Aladdin finds that by rubbing the lamp, a powerful genie (djinn) appears and grants him many wishes. Aladdin soon becomes rich and marries the Sultan's beautiful daughter.
